All projects of the QCEA are approved by the Council or which the British Committee is a member (Along with representatives from other Quaker Yearly meeting ins Europe) One of the projects that is currently being undertaken is related to ‘Energy Conflict and Climate Change’ and is being funded in the main by a bequest made to the British Committeefrom the estate of HV Wyles. Our other work currently includes: Working with the EPLO to encourage the EU to develop civilian capabilities and to cooperate with NGOs in crisis management, conflict transformation and peacebuilding Exploring the situation of women in prison and their children, in cooperation with QPSW and QUNO-Geneva, and lobbying on these issues at the Council of Europe Examining the effectiveness of conflict prevention in the development assistance from the EU to the group of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries Examining the EU’s response to terrorism and making policy proposals for alternative approaches in this area |
